Our history
Four and a half decades of independent inspection — from its origins in Chattogram in 1981 to a nationwide and international network headquartered in Dhaka.
An inspection certificate is only worth the independence behind it. That conviction — evidence first, favour to no party — has carried BCBD from its establishment in Chattogram in 1981 and the relocation of its headquarters to Dhaka in 1984 into a nationwide and internationally recognised practice.
Established in Chattogram
Baltic Control (BD) Ltd. commenced operations in Chattogram, Bangladesh's principal seaport and commercial gateway, providing independent surveying, inspection, sampling, testing and consultancy services to the maritime and trading community.
Headquarters moved to Dhaka
As Bangladesh's administrative, financial and corporate activities increasingly centred in the capital, the company relocated its headquarters to Dhaka to strengthen relationships with government agencies, insurers, financial institutions and multinational clients, while maintaining a strong operational presence in the country's ports.
Incorporated as a limited company
The company is registered as a limited company under registration No. C-19691 (461)/90, dated 12 June 1990 — formalising a structure built on independence and impartiality.
A nationwide network
Branch offices are established at Chattogram, Khulna, Mongla, Benapole and ICD Kamalapur, placing BCBD surveyors at every major port and land-port gateway of Bangladesh.
ISO 9001:2015 certification
BCBD's quality management system is certified to ISO 9001:2015, and the company builds a multidisciplinary team of engineers, master mariners, quality inspectors, auditors, cotton controllers, container inspectors, valuators, loss adjusters, claim-settling experts and samplers.
Worldwide reach
Through reciprocal arrangements with reputed international inspection companies, BCBD delivers services across the Americas, Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Asia and Australia — 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
