Pre-shipment inspection of raw jute and jute goods — grade, construction, moisture and bale-by-bale weight, certified before the goods leave Bangladesh.

Jute is sold on grade and weight — and both get argued about. BCBD inspects and weighs at origin,
bale by bale, so your contract terms are verified before shipment rather than disputed after arrival.

## A. Raw jute

### Quality

* Grade, colour, class of fibre and fibre strength
* Length of jute and texture of fibre
* Handling, cut, etc.

### Weighing

Weighed bale by bale on a platform / hanging scale.

* Measurement (sizes: length / width)
* Weight of bags / cloth
* Weaving defects / scanning faults
* Construction (porter & shot)
* Jointing of bags
* Moisture content

### Weighing

* Weighed bale by bale on a platform scale
* Taring — the tare weight of selected bales is checked at random to ascertain the net weight of the bale

## Write us into your letter of credit

One clause makes our certificate a condition of payment. Insert the following in your L/C:

> “The shipping document must be accompanied by the Pre-Shipment Inspection certificate of
> Baltic Control (BD) Ltd., certifying that the goods inspected conform to the contractual specifications in
> respect of weight and quality.”

With that clause in place, no shipping document is negotiable without independent confirmation of
weight and quality — your protection is built into the payment mechanism itself.
